In this episode, Stephanie Buryk-Iggers, a Ph.D. student at the University of Toronto, joins Mike to talk about sports, stress, exercise, and illness. As an athlete and exercise scientist, Stephanie is committed to using the power of sport and exercise as an agent for positive change in her own life and around the world. She shares stories of her athletic pursuits and her time working with the organization called Right To Play where she supported the development of sport and health programs across Canada and internationally. Mike and Steph discuss the effects of exercise-induced stress on the body and the utility of using exercise to treat injury and chronic diseases. The latter being the focus of her doctoral research project.
